Waking up in the middle of the night is not my favorite thing ever.
But in my baby’s first few days of life, when we’re still at the hospital, I love waking to the sound of the nurse quietly wheeling in my brand-new baby from the nursery so I can feed her.
There’s something so magical about the quiet of the middle of the night, with the lights very dim, and a new little child that you’re just starting to know and love. And in the hospital, with no responsibilities for other children or real schedule, it doesn’t matter much to me if I’m up in the middle of the night because I can nap during the day.
Plus, when the baby goes back to the nursery, I get to roll over and sleep on my stomach for the first time in many months.
