If your child has a birthday near Halloween try incorporating the holiday (instead of ignoring it) with a clever Bat Party. Go Batty with this cute theme!!
If you’re taking a picture of your child’s head for the invitation, try using only 1/3 of the frame so that the picture isn’t too large. Also, take the picture in front of a white wall making it easier to cut out the head. If you’re using Photoshop, size the head to 2 or 2-1/2 inches (click to download the Bat Party invitation).
Serve a cake covered in bats, with a sweet red velvet surprise inside. The bats were cut out of black cardstock and glued with hot glue onto floral wire (click to download a bat template). Crushed Oreos adorn the top of the cake to resemble dirt.
To make bat wings for the top of your brownie cupcakes, melt chocolate of your choice and put it in a plastic ziploc baggie. Cut off one corner of the baggie to let the melted chocolate out. On a piece of waxed paper, draw a bat wing outline with the melted chocolate the fill in the outline with more chocolate. If needed, use a skewer to help move the chocolate around enough to fill in every spot. Make a small slit in the top of the brownies for the wings. After the chocolate has cooled, carefully lift the chocolate wings and place into the slit in the top of the brownie.
