How to Make Sugar-Free Applesauce in 8 Minutes

It’s fall, and that means warm treats and plenty of apples. Hmmmm! Can you smell that? I can!

I wouldn’t think of applesauce as a fall treat, but my friend and creator of Momme Meals has an awesome autumnal recipe for slightly spiced applesauce that the entire family can enjoy. Have it on its own, or use it in your other baking creations, such as muffins or bread recipes.

Best of all, it takes just 8 minutes to make. Now that’s my kind of cooking!

  • Slightly Spiced Sugar-Free Applesauce

    Super easy to make and oh so yummy! Here’s what you need:

    1 1/4 lbs apples (cored and chopped with the skin on)

    1/2 cup purified water

    2 tablespoons seedless golden raisins

    2 dried dates

    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

    Wash, core and chop the apples with the skin on.

  • Ready to cook

    Place all five ingredients in a microwave safe bowl with cover.

    Cook for 4 minutes partially covered, allowing some steam to escape while heating.

    Let the contents of the bowl cool slightly.

    Place the cooled ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. If you have a commercial grade blender — even better! It will result in the best texture.

    THAT’S IT! Enjoy a bowl of warm apple sauce on the spot or store it in your refrigerator for up to five days. Perfect snack for mommy, toddler and baby! And if you want to freeze some, it can last up to six months if stored properly. Be sure to freeze in airtight containers and labeled with the date.
