Delicious “Picnic Lemonade” for Both Mommy and Baby

Summer isn’t over yet. At least here on the East Coast, the babes and I are still surviving 90-degree days! As parents we know how important it is for us to stay hydrated — and even more so for the little ones.

Thanks to my friend and owner of Momme Meals, Kristen, I have gotten more creative in the kitchen — with even the the simplest of things like lemonade. Here I share her recipe, which is a new take on a classic summertime drink. So enjoy the last few days of summer with a cool glass of Picnic Lemonade.

Note: Remove the basil if you’re giving this to toddlers, but other than that, it’s low in sugar and super delicious.

    Who can resist a cool glass of lemonade? This healthy version is sure to be a hit with the entire family!

  • Just water and honey

    Step 1: Heat water and honey on the stovetop or in the microwave until warm.

    Step 2: Mix the water with a spoon until the honey is completely dissolved.

    Step 3: Using a mason jar or other lidded container, add ice, chia, lemon, lemon rind and basil.

    Step 4: Pour in honey water. Immediately place the lid on the container and shake for 30 seconds. This will help prevent the chia seeds from clumping together.

    Step 5: Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes and shake again. By this time your chia seeds will have begun to swell and your lemonade is ready to enjoy!
