Have you been thinking about doing something a little out of the ordinary for Mother’s Day? Flowers and gifts are a lovely thought and oh so welcome… but a day out? That’s what this mama wants.
Last year for Mother’s Day, my husband and our kids took me out for a lazy and relaxing drive before stopping for an impromptu lunch at one of our favourite restaurants. It was such a welcomed surprise, and I loved spending time with everyone without having to rush back for X, Y, or Z.
Whether you are looking for a day out with the kids, or one on your own, here are 10 day trips for Mother’s Day that are fun and memorable!
Treat mom to a day at the spa. She’ll love you forever and ever and ever.
Trip to the Bookstore
Alone time amongst a pile of books is truly a dream day for me and something tells me I’m not alone. If your mom is a bookworm, this will be right up her alley!
Dinner and a Movie
It’s the classic date, family outing, or girl’s night. Dinner and a movie is a nice way to remove a little bit of stress from Mom’s life and treat her to something special.
Pack her bags and take her away for the night. There are plenty of Mother’s Day packages and specials going on right now, so check with your local hotels and resorts!
Horse Drawn Carriage
Cities across North America usually offer the experience of a horse-drawn carriage. It’s romantic, exciting, and a one-of-a-kind experience that would be such a treat for Mother’s Day!
Lace up your pair of runners and take her for a hike through your local state or provincial park. The weather is oh so fine!
There is nothing quite as cheery as a breakfast or brunch presented on a pretty plate and prepared by someone other than Mom. This can be spun in a couple of different ways: breakfast in bed, or breakfast/brunch out at a restaurant followed up with some shopping or a drive.
Day at the Beach
Do you have a beach nearby? Pack a picnic, hop in the car and make a day out of it. This is a great idea for the entire family! There is nothing more relaxing than a day at the beach.
Day at the Amusement Park
One of my friends lives very close to Disneyland in California and another lives about an hour away from Walt Disney World in Orlando. Am I jealous? You bet! If mom loves amusement parks, a day trip might be a fun idea for Mother’s Day.
Does Mom love history and archeology? Take her on a trip to visit your local museum or historical sights close to home!
