My husband and I will be heading out on a little “babymoon” and it will be our first getaway without our daughter since before we came parents. She’ll be staying with her grandparents and I know they’re going to have a blast, but I still wanted to do a little something to make her feel special while we’re away and to let her know that we’re thinking of her. So I came up with a fun, little idea for these “Missing You” countdown bags.
Each day while we’re away my daughter will have a paper bag with a little surprise and a note to open. She loved doing this for Advent during the holiday season, so I thought it would be fun. It also helped me to feel a little bit better about the fact that we’re going away without her since I’m already missing her terribly!
Some of the items were random, little things I already had lying around, but I added in a couple of sweet treats, bubbles, stickers…things I knew she would enjoy. I also “wrote” her little notes to accompany each day – basically just a bunch of terrible drawings of things she likes. My 2-D Ariel rendition and her sidekick Flounder who looks more like a swimming chicken may not be the best, but I know my toddler will love it.
At barely two years old, I know she’s still a bit young to remember things like this forever, but it’s fun to start creating magical moments now in the hopes that she’ll look back on her childhood with fondness and the memory that she was very loved by her family.
