My husband and I own an art studio for kids called A Little Artsy, and one of the things that we love to do in October at the studio is create our own masks.
This Halloween mask is something that you can definitely do with your toddler or as a “mommy & me” painting with your baby as well.
Halloween Masks, Made by You!
Here is a step-by-step to create your own Halloween Mask Painting!
Pick a Theme
Decide on a "theme." For example, you could create an animal mask, a silly mask, or a tribal mask. Draw the mask on a white piece of paper or a white piece of poster board for your baby.
We have stamps and prints on hand at our studio, but you could use an apple or a vegetable as a print when creating a mask at home. Cut an apple in half and dip it in the paint. Create various designs with the print on the mask.
A fun way to incorporate your baby is by letting them paint with their fingerprints. Dip their pointer finger into the paint (tempera paint is great for little ones) and create shapes and designs with their tiny fingers. If you are working with a toddler, let them paint!
Tearing paper is a great fine motor activity for little ones. Tear different colors of paper together and then glue them onto the mask like a collage.
The Finished Product
Be creative! Make the mask your own!
