A Sneaky Green Smoothie for a Hot Summer Day

One trick for getting my babes to eat some veggies is sneaking them into smoothies and popsicles at home! When I first heard about adding leafy greens to my smoothies, I thought there was NO WAY you wouldn’t be able to taste the veggies. But then I gave it a shot and it’s true! You don’t even know they’re in there!

When my girls began to get a little more picky about their food, I decided to give these green smoothies a try. And sure enough, my girls LOVE them. They have no idea how much spinach, kale, and flax seed they’re consuming and it’s awesome. (Muahaha!!!) A lot of times, we’ll freeze these into popsicle molds, too! Perfect for a hot summer day!


  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 1/4 cup liquid – I have used Kefir, OJ, pineapple juice, and water – just use what you have on hand!

Throw it all in the bowl of your blender, blend, and enjoy!

**You can certainly play around with this recipe. Use blackberries instead. Use kale in place of the spinach. Sometimes, I’ll throw in a banana to make it a tad more creamy. The options are endless!
