6 Ways to Hack Bath Time

Each of my princesses has gone through phases of hating bath time. The cries and tears (not exclusively mine) made what could be a sweet time of day feel like a chore, but I knew there had to be some ways to make this special time of day more enjoyable.

These hacks have made bath time a little easier (and a lot more fun!) for us both.

Make Yourself a Throne
“You’re the boss, the king, the shah.”- Genie, Aladdin

Having a soft place to sit makes you feel almost regal while scrubbing and splashing. If you’d prefer to sit on the bathtub edge but your shower door tracks are in the way, cover them with a sliced pool noodle for a cushioned seat.

Get in on the Fun
“You’re never too old to be young.” – Happy, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

This Shoot & Store toy invites your little one (and you) to work on free throws together. Or, another way to get in on the fun is simply to get in yourself. Most times, I end up putting my feet in the tub while my little one soaks.

Make It Colorful
“Make it pink. Make it blue.”- Flora & Merryweather, Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty’s fairy godmothers added color to make Aurora look extra special. A colored bath can add extra fun to bath time. You can nab commercially made tablets to dye the bath water. If your family uses food coloring, add a drop or two to the bath water for a DIY version. And if you’re looking for even more ways to bring a new hue to tub time, combine shaving cream and food coloring to make shaving cream bath paint.

Save Water for the Fish
“All drains lead to the ocean.”- Gill, Finding Nemo

Many little ones enjoy watching the water run — but it’s good to conserve water, too! Get them in the tub early while it’s filling up, and then prevent water from draining with a cute cover like this one. (You can always mimic the fun of water running with a colander or recycled milk jug with holes poked in the cap, as well.)

Add a Soundtrack
“Give a little whistle.” – Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio

Music brightens the mood, and the bathroom acoustics make singing not sound half bad. Whistle or sing along to favorite Disney soundtracks while bathing little ones. A portable speaker or even your cellphone can aid in DJ’ing up some squeaky clean jams.

Make Clean-Up a Snap
“In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun.”- Mary Poppins

And snap! The job’s a game! Clean up your baby’s toys with the Mickey Mouse Scoop. We have filled our home with nods to our favorite mouse, so the iconic Mickey Mouse design is the perfect accent to our kids’ bathroom. Plus it doubles as storage, so we don’t have a tub full of toys.
