Soren at 4 months has been one of our favorite “ages” so far! It’s wonderful seeing him so much more aware of the world around him and curious about new things. He has been smiling, giggling, rolling over, reaching and putting everything in his mouth. There is something magical about watching a baby suddenly learn something new! Here are a few of our favorite ways to currently interact with Soren, perfect for a 4-month-old!
House Tour – Soren is very visual and loves seeing new things. He also seems to get bored easily, so this is a great way to get him familiar with words and keep him stimulated. We love to carry Soren around the house and tour each room. We point out different things and tell him what they are called, show him pictures and tell him who the people are in the images, and just have a fun conversation with him and we explore our home together!
Toy Time – Since Soren has been “reaching with intent” much more lately, we like to lay him on the floor and hold different toys above him that he can reach for and hold. We try to use a variety of different toys with fun colors and feelings. We’ll just cycle through holding different toys above him to feel and play with. It’s also fun if you have a noise-making toy to show him the sounds it makes before letting him reach for it.
Peek-a-Boo – This is a classic. We love to play peek-a-boo and “where is Soren?” we can usually get a little giggle out of him with this game. ;)
Head, Tummy, Toes! – We love teaching Soren about his little body by pointing to his nose and saying or singing “Nose!” in a fun way. You can do this with each body part to interact with them and have an excuse to make up a silly song. Soren loves when we use fun accents or sing to him. :)
