Non-Baby Tunes For Your Baby To Snooze To

I don’t know about you, but I’m not a huge fan of “baby music”. Sure I sing my fair share of “The ABC Song” and “Twinkle, Twinkle” throughout the day, but sometimes it’s nice to listen to non-baby music with your little one. Bed time is a great time for this, because music can become a good part of your routine with Baby and choosing regular songs instead of baby specific songs can be fun, because when you hear them in the future you’ll always remember them as party of your baby’s bed time routine and look back on them with fond memories. I love mellow, folky music anyway, so compiling this list of bed time tunes wasn’t much of a stretch. Here is my bed time play list for you AND your baby’s listening enjoyment!

  • The Swell Season

    The Swell Season “Falling Slowly”

I discovered The Swell Season while watching the movie “Once” and I’m not sure if it was the sweet appeal of the film or simply the music itself, but it’s pure magic and this song will always be one of my favorites. The harmonies are perfection.

    Jack Johnson “Imagine” (Cover)

While the John Lennon original of this song is fantastic, the soulful spin that Jack Johnson puts on the song makes it a perfect change for sleep time.

Colin Hay “I Just Don’t Think I’ll Get Over You”

This song was on the nap time sound track when I worked at a preschool and it always worked like a charm for my students, so I’m pretty sure it would work just as well for smaller babies as well.

Johnny Cash “In My Life” (Cover)

The original Beatles version of “In My Life” is great, but I just love Johnny Cash’s gritty voice and it’s always fun to change it up.
