I had the wonderful fortune of throwing a baby shower for a dear friend of my mine, Claire, with her mother (and grandmother-to-be) Leslie, and our mutual friends Melanie, Deirdre and Jody. Since Claire doesn’t know the gender of her baby, we wanted a theme that was versatile but specific to the Mama-to-Be, too. With so many clever, crafty women helping to plan this baby shower, we came up with the perfect theme for our bookworm friend: a book themed baby shower!
We went wild with the theme, even including a build a library request, asking guests to bring an unwrapped children’s book in lieu of a card. We had plenty of bookish activities and games and the Mama-to-Be was simply glowing with excitement and joy. Take a look through Claire’s Book Themed Baby Shower to find shower games, activities and decoration inspiration for your next shower!

I’m approaching the final weeks of pregnancy and the time that is typically prime for baby showers. Now, I love baby showers as much as the next mama, but since this is my second child and we already have all the baby gear and a ton of great gender neutral clothes I didn’t really “need” one. Regardless, it’s still nice to celebrate the impending arrival of a new baby and this weekend a couple of my friends teamed up to do just that. They celebrated Baby Clive and I…but it wasn’t with a baby shower. It was even better!

Dressing a little girl has been so much fun, but I’m definitely excited to take on the fun of dressing a little boy once our new baby arrives, but even more so, I’m looking forward to dressing my kids in coordinated sibling outfits. There’s just something so sweet about little siblings in adorable outfits that gets me every time. Here are a few cute ideas from Disney Store if you’ve got little Disney loving siblings in your house!

Today was the big day…ultrasound day!
I was so ridiculously excited to see our fourth baby today, I could barely sleep last night. It was a big deal in our family; we let our oldest daughter skip school to come with us and we made it a fun family outing with the promise of lunch afterwards for the kids. (Ok, and for me, I was hungry, ok?)
With three other young children at home, my #1 concern for the ultrasound was to know everything was ok with the baby. It’s been a crazy, unexpected whirlwind of a pregnancy and with all of my emotions and fears about becoming a mother of four swirling in my head, I’ve been fighting down waves of panic and guilt, just wondering, what if something is wrong?
I think every mother goes through that panic, and to some degree, it’s normal. There’s a lot of amazing, intricate development that goes in those first twenty weeks, which for me, always seem to fly by. I just wanted to see our baby on the screen and hear those reassuring words that everything was fine.
And luckily, everything did turn out fine. The baby measured perfectly, my due date is correct, and everything looked great. This mama can breathe a big sigh of relief and move on to the fun of…picking one of these adorable gender reveal cakes to find out what we’re having! (If you missed it, you can see why I planned to be surprised right alongside the rest of the family here.)
