Fun in the Sun Ideas for Baby
The sun is shining and the temps are rising. It must be summer! Get ready to slather on the sunblock and dig out those adorable floppy hats. We asked a few moms for their favorite summertime activities with baby. Their great ideas will keep you and your cutie busy from now to well past Labor Day.
“We set up a kiddie pool in the backyard. As a baby my son didn’t like bath time, but he loved being outside in that kiddie pool. We’d fill it with warm soapy water to help kill two birds with one stone!” - Jane F.
“There’s an outdoor mall near our house that has fountains that spout water up from the ground. As an infant my son loved just watching them, but now that he has started walking and the weather is really warm I let him run through them. On a hot day I walk him home in the stroller and by the time we get back he’s all dried off!” - Cerena V.
“We love playing outside, but when the temperature gets too high, one of my favorite places to go with my son Gabe during the summer is the Adventure Aquarium. It’s actually inside with air conditioning so it’s a nice way to beat the heat. We have a yearly pass so all I have to pay for is parking. It’s a great way to spend a hot summer day.” - Meri D.
Hang with Friends
“The moms in my neighborhood make it a point to schedule regular play dates at our local park during the summer months. Even when the babies are super small they get a kick out of laying on blankets in the grass with their buddies. It’s a great way to be social and get outside.” - Rochelle S.
“I love going to the beach with my baby. We bring a little play tent so that she can keep out of the sun a bit. She loves playing with her pail and shovel in the sand and watching the waves. And I think all of the fresh ocean air helps her sleep better at night, too.” - Janelle G.
Fun with Bubbles
“When the weather is warm we set up shop in the backyard and break out the bubble wand – my son Jack is crazy about bubbles! I can’t get enough of listening to his giggles as he tries to ‘catch’ them.” - Melissa B.
Shop the Markets
“I love taking my twins to farmers markets in the summer. It’s a great way for me to pick up healthy options for our meals and there’s so much for the babies to look at and observe.” - Diane B.
Take in the View
“Ceana loves to lay in the backyard and look up at the sky and trees around her. We put a blanket down on the grass and lay with her. Sometimes we take our naps outside, too. It’s so relaxing.” - Julie S.
