What a Difference a Year Makes
Sometimes it’s hard to believe that Judah is really and truly a one year old! For his first birthday a few weeks ago, I started compiling several photos taken of him in the last couple of months and paired them with similar photos from when he was still just a newborn. Seeing all these moments side by side has been remarkable – there really is no denying that our little baby isn’t such a baby anymore and our little 12 month old is well on his way to toddlerhood.
What a difference a year makes, indeed.
Side By Side By Judah
Judah has been growing like a weed. When we see him every day, sometimes it’s hard to notice just how dramatic the changes can be, as these side-by-side photos over Judah’s last 12 months.
No More Newborn Face
For a long time, I worried if Judah would ever crawl; he hated tummy time (the photo on the left is a rare tummy time moment not spent pitching a fit); we can barely keep up with him now. It’s amazing to see the changes in his face between these two pictures.
The Incredible Shrinking Crib
When we first put Judah in his crib, it looked so huge because he was so little. Now, Judah greets us every morning standing and bouncing and it won’t be long now before we’ll have to remove the side and convert it into a toddler bed.
An Armful of Joy
The picture on the left was taken when Judah was just one month old, two days after he had gotten out of the hospital. Now, when he cuddles with dad, he’s practically the size of his daddy’s torso!
Rub a Dub Dub in the Tub
Judah’s very first sink bath at left: he was so tiny and we were so afraid of him slipping we had him sitting on a giant sponge! At right, Judah is a pro at bath time: our biggest challenge is getting him to stay on his tush instead of trying to crawl around in the water!
Cuddles and Snuggles
The photo on the left was taken at his three month checkup; the photo on the right, when he was just 11 months old. We’re lucky that Judah still likes to cuddle and snuggle when he’s all tuckered out – we know that won’t last much longer!
Exploring the World Around
Judah is perpetually curious about the world around him. At left: six months old, just before Hallloween. At right, just a few weeks ago. I love helping him explore his world.
Up in the Air
The difference in Judah’s face between six months (left) and just ten months (right) is incredible! He’s got so much more hair now!
For a while, Judah was just a budding foodie, trying all sorts of new tastes and textures, like his rice cereal (left) at about five months old. The photo on the right? Judah couldn’t eat his fried fish bites fast enough on a weekend day trip to Kittery Point, Maine!
Judah first got his taste of the salt sea air when he was five months old; he wasn’t terribly impressed. When we took him to the beach for Memorial Day weekend, he couldn’t crawl to the waves fast enough!
Judah wasn’t so keen to dip his toes in the sand when he was five months old (left); now he loves when we take “walks” in the grass.
He's Got a Ticket to Ride
The first time we strapped Judah into his car seat on his trip home from the hospital, we thought he looked like a tiny little doll! Now Judah rides in the car like a pro!
