Today I am excited to share with you a sweet first birthday celebration that is sure to have you smiling. This party comes by way of Kera of Deep Down. You may recognize her and her sweet baby girl Elena as Kera was one of the Instagram mamas I recently featured. I was delighted when she shared photos and a recipe from Elena’s first birthday party!
Since Elena was born on Cinco de Mayo her parents decided to throw her a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. This charming celebration could easily be modified for your summer baby’s birthday. The details are darling yet simple enough for those of us who aren’t all that crafty but still want to include festive details. Here are a few words from Kera regarding the party:
Hello Disney Baby Readers!
My name is Kera, and I blog about life abroad with my three littles, at Deep Down. My baby girl’s birthday falls on Cinco de Mayo, which we are so excited about!! She just turned one, and what a day to have a fiesta!! So we did just that. We invited our closest friends here in Abu Dhabi, UAE, where we’ve been living for four years, and had a taco bar, with Brazilian lemonade and Horchata, two delicious Latin American drinks.

A Repurposed Backdrop
A beautiful tapestry rug provides the perfect backdrop and can be repurposed later in the nursery or toddler room.
Beautiful in Blue
Elena’s dress is a reminder that pretty in pink doesn’t have to be the standard. Little Elena’s blue dress mirrors the party’s theme not to mention she looks adorable!
Doesn’t the cake look delicious? The white icing on the cake and cupcakes makes them stand out on a table surrounded by brightly colored decorations.
A Simple Cake Topper
A cute banner is used to decorate the cake!
Pops of Color
These colorful straws are a simple way to incorporate extra pops of color in the table decor.
Hats and Balloons
Here is Elena and her family looking especially festive in their party hats.
A Party Hat!
Sometimes the best kind of party hat is a traditional one. Elena looks darling in hers.
A Birthday Cupcake
Cupcakes that resemble the birthday cake are a great addition to the party spread and easy for little hands to enjoy.
