Quotes On Motherhood: From Your Favorite Blogging Mamas

One of my favorite things about motherhood is hearing about how other mamas experience it. Because of this, I decided to call upon some of my favorite blogging mamas (Jen Lula of Jen Loves Kev, Anna Liesemeyer of In Honor of Design, Kelli Murray, the lovely ladies at Small Fry Blog and more!) to share their thoughts on motherhood. Everyone had something different to share and I’m sure you’ll love reading through them just as much as I did.

“I once read ‘it’s not a balance, it’s a juggle’…pertaining to work and motherhood. It couldn’t be more true. I used to think that true ‘balance’ did exist as working mom, I just hadn’t gotten there. But I have realized that no one has it 100% figured out. It’s less about balance and more about compromise.”

“Motherhood has changed me in ways that I never would have imagined. It has made me slow down, appreciate each moment, notice all of the little things in life, and truly live every day to its fullest. There are so many things that I love about motherhood, but I think my favorite part is being able to see the world through the eyes of a child, re-discovering the magic, the wonder, and the curiosity that we seem to lose as adults.”

“My favorite thing about motherhood is seeing the joy in your little ones eyes as they get to experience something fun for the very first time. I love getting to take them on new adventures!”

“Motherhood is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I will never be one of those women that gush about how much I love being a mom. But I will say this: I am thankful every single day since I met her that I get to be Emilia’s mommy. And I look back at all we had to go through to get here, to this place, and I am thankful. I need her and she needs me and I would do it all over again for the privilege of spending my life with her. Given the choice, I would choose her every time.”

“Ralph Waldo Emerson said that men are what their mothers made them. For me it’s all about finding a balance between wiping their tears and nurturing their independence…celebrating their joy and teaching them to be disciplined…instilling in them spirituality, but giving them a space to decide for themselves. I definitely don’t have all the answers or really any, but my ultimate goal is to help shape them into men they can be proud of.”

“I love this simple quote by S. Truett Cathy: ‘It is easier to build boys then mend men.’ When I collapse on the couch at 5:00 p.m. and try to recount my day to my husband and the list is disappointingly small, I try and recollect the tiny moments where I was building up my boys instead of checking tasks off a list.”

“When I feel less fancy than all of the fabulous things in this world, I remind myself of this quote by The First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: ‘Motherhood is near to divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind. It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels.’ After that I remember that mothers are as fabulous as they come.”

“Some of the best advice I ever received was to ‘be careful who you compare yourself to.’ I put down the parenting books, let go, and jumped in! There are no two mothers with the same children or circumstances in life, and the best thing I could do for my family was to let it happen naturally. Of course, not without weekly phone calls to mom for advice. Its been such a fun adventure, and I am so thankful to be experiencing it.”
