Put Baby in the Closet: 20 Small Space Nursery Ideas
I remember being SO excited when our first was well on his way; every week that passed wherein his perfect little tiny body grew and prepared itself for the big reveal meant that I had to have the perfect nursery. One might say I was fairly consumed with the planning of that first nursery, and I don’t regret a thing. I’ll always remember that experience with fondness, even the night that I went into labour at 5 a.m., breathing through a few contractions as I finished putting the room together.
One might also say I’m a procrastinator.
The only hitch was that it had to be a shared space, as we hosted family and friends and business associates quite often living in the hub of a big city (then). Making a shared space out of a walk-in closet isn’t the easiest, but it can be done! As you will soon see from this collection of closet nurseries…

Our 1st Nursery - Walk-In-Closet
A shared space, for our 1st born and a bed for what was originally to be for out of town guests. I ended up dream nursing many a night in that queen bed and the crib didn’t get used much at all! Pretty much everything was thrifted, handmade or passed down from friends and I did the wall murals myself. This space was originally the walk-in closet for our room right next door, but our landlord at the time (we were renting then), had apparently done some slight renovations to make it a 2 bedroom apartment instead of 1.
I’m not usually a fan of dark walls, especially in small spaces…but this totally works!
All you really need is a crib, some fun wallpaper and a cool mobile, as you can see here!
2 in 1!
This one takes the cake. That would be 2 little ones in one closet, not just one!
Keep Calm & Small Space On
The very best things often come in tiny packages.
Coral and teal. Probably one of the best colour combos around!
Carved Out Space
Serenely beautiful! Not all closets are without a window – making this space bright, airy and calm.
Barn Door Hideaway
This is one of my favourites! The combination of the birch wallpaper and clever and attractive use of functional wall-space is a winning combination!
Tiny Closet = No Problem!
Another fun wallpaper, crib and ceiling fixture combo. Really all you need!
Pink & Grey
I’m not usually a fan of this much pink – but I do adore the grey and pink colour combo.
