Our Parenting Song

Do you have a song? You know, that song that you share with someone special that reminds you of all the love you feel for that person? Maybe it’s the song that played when you first met. Or the first song you danced to. Or a song with special lyrics that seemed to be written just for the two of you. Well my husband and I have a song like that about becoming parents. It’s a song that we always thought was nice but when we found out we were expecting, became even more special. It became our song

We would play it in the car and smile at each other. We have it written down like a reminder of the bond that holds us all together. The lyrics make us think of grand adventures and the bigger picture. It’s special. And we hope one day it’s special to our son too. Do you have a song like that? Here’s ours. Maybe it will inspire you to find a song of your own…

Pack your bags – something small
Take what you need and we disappear
Without a trace we’ll be gone, gone

The moon and the stars can follow the car
and then when we get to the ocean
We gonna take a boat to the end of the world
All the way to the end of the world

Oh, and when the kids are old enough
We’re gonna teach them to fly

You and me together, we could do anything, Baby
You and me together yes, yes.

You and I, we’re not tied to the ground
Not falling but rising like rolling around
Eyes closed above the rooftops

Eyes closed, we’re gonna spin through the stars
Our arms wide as the sky
We gonna ride the blue all the way to the end of the world
To the end of the world

Oh, and when the kids are old enough
We’re gonna teach them to fly.
