Being a parent isn’t all fun and games, of course.
Sometimes, when there is a really horrible diaper or someone has thrown up at three in the morning, I think, “It’s really too bad that the buck stops here, with me. I’d much prefer to call in someone else to handle this.”
But in other moments, I think, “I am so glad to be the mama here. This is my moment!”
These are nine instances when I feel extra happy to be the mama:
#1: When your baby wants to snuggle
I’ve been a parent for almost four years, and it hasn’t even STARTED to get old.
#2: When you get to buy baby clothing
I’m not the world’s biggest shopper, but put me near some baby clothing? I can’t help myself!
#3: When you want an excuse to go home early
“This baby needs to go to bed!”
#4: When you know where all the good snacks are hidden
You know you hide those good snacks for naptime!
#5: When the house is still and quiet and the babies are sleeping
That peaceful feeling is one of my favorites!
#6: When your baby learns a trick you’ve taught them
It’s so GRATIFYING!
#7: When your baby’s first word is “mama”
(Or, so I’d imagine. . . my baby’s first word was “dada”)
#8: When you make that baby smile or laugh
That smile says it all
#9: When you get to experience something again like it’s the first time
A zoo? Disneyland? Christmas? swimming? All brand-new and exciting with a little one.
