My Son From Birth to 3 Years Old: Our Digital Memory Book
Posted by Selena Burgess
Exactly one week ago today my son turned 3 years old. I’ve listened to beautiful boy far too many times this week (arguably). I’ve shed a few tears, baked a lot of cookies, bought more almond chocolate milk than usual, ordered a lot of pizza, built quite a few forts and assembled more hot wheels tracks than I ever thought I would (as in any), since the big day.
I believe in birthday weeks.
I also have an affection for making videos and memory books. The latter of which I’m about to share here. The video is still in the works. One day, when I’m old and grey – I’ll be very grateful for all of the hours I spent creating these digital memories.
Follow me on Wyndham’s journey from birth, to baby, to toddler to BOY. My son is a BOY. Someone…hold me.

Beautiful Boy...
…who will always be my baby. Click through for a peek at what birth to 3 years old looks like to me! For him, I am truly thankful.

From Belly to Birth
After years of infertility; he is my miracle baby – the one I thought I’d never have.

Naming Ceremony
Wyndham’s spirit name is Niighanighiijzik, meaning Leader From the Sky in Ojibwe. You can learn more about my Little Big Spirit Running and the Native naming ceremony by clicking here.

1st Christmas
Under the mistletoe, the tree and in the crook of Santa’s arm. He was only a month old here. My heart.

Full of Charisma
Even at a few months old, my guy exhibited all the makings of a charming and silly little fellow.

Learning The Ropes
As in getting his play on and mastering the fine art of the brow furl.

Starting to Crawl
It didn’t take long for him to start motoring at warp speed once he figured out the whole mobility thing. Also? THE CUTE. It slays.

1st Birthday
We went from being away in the southern States on his actual birthday to being back home in the cold wintery north of Canada for his big party with friends and family. This was his first taste of chocolate and it’s been a hard core love affair ever since.

1st Dip
Every baby’s 1st experience in a large body of water should be in a lake or the ocean. Just sayin’.

1st Boat Ride
This was one of my most favourite days from Wyndham’s baby-hood. I got a lot of good shots that day, which is one of the reasons, I’m sure. But mostly, it’s from all of the perfect, sweet moments we had that day. There was no crying. The sun was high and gorgeous, the water warm and fine. My baby’s smile could light up the darkest room and he showered me with love that day. I’ll always remember it.

1st Trip to the Zoo
The aquarium was his favourite part, as you can clearly see.

Master of Funny Faces
It’s true. All babies have this talent, but this one…this one is all mine.

One Sunhat - 3 Years
That’s right. I purchased this sunhat before he was born and he has worn it for three summers. Perhaps it was a little big in the beginning…no matter. Child looked adorable and it did the job.

Outdoors Adventurer
It’s been nothing short of amazing watching him discover all of the beauty that mother earth has to offer. Throughout the years he’s turned into quite the fearless adventurer.

Learning To Run & Play Soccer...
With one of his most favourite people, his cousin Kelly. Ever since right around this time…keeping up has been a (mostly welcome) challenge, in every way.

Family Maternity Shoot
Me, 8 months pregnant with his sister Abby, he was still a babe himself. Okay, a toddler. Whatever age, he’ll always be my baby.

Halloween x 3
Here we have an owl, a firefighter and a cowboy. I’ve watched him go from not having a clue what the fuss was all about, to being petrified of the whole affair – to experiencing vast amounts of joy regarding said occasion.

J'adore les Chapeau
My little guy has always been into hats. Sure, I had something to do with it, but I’ve never had to push it on him. He loves looking fresh!

My Buddy
It’s hard to believe that I ever felt lonely. Or that life was as good without him by my side. Because it wasn’t. I am truly honoured to be his mama and grateful for his presence every. Single. Day. Even when he’s melting down, it’s there. I might have to dig for it a bit, but the gratitude is always there.

2nd Birthday
Doing all the things. Playing and pretending to read to his sister, owning the piñata and dazed by cupcakes all aglow. SO MANY CUPCAKES.

Last Christmas...
You bet I took great pleasure in donning he and his sister in festive photo props and holiday attire. We’re at that time again and this year we’re doing a photo booth with some silly props for our Holiday cards. Nerdly amounts of excitement.

Small Style
Always the dapper one, not afraid to pose – most always full of joy. Except for when you know, he’s not. Which obviously happens. He’s a toddler.

Just Like His Daddy
He loves to dress like his daddy and play any instrument with strings…just like his father.

Now a Little Boy
Joking, discovering and coming up with all of his own ways (and rules).

3 Years Old
This is my boy today. So big, (yet so small), so sweet, so wild, so charming, so smart, so funny, so handsome, so amazingly magnificent. ‘I’ll like you forever, I’ll love you for always my boy. As long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.’ Quote from Robert Munch’s book, I’ll Love You Forever. A favourite bedtime book betwixt he and I, and a quote I whisper to him all the time.
