Frozen Baby Names ~ Inspired By the Motion Picture
I can’t go a day without hearing all three of my children belt out “Let it Gooooo!” The Frozen soundtrack has officially become the national anthem in our home. Since we took my toddler and his sisters to the theatre to watch the film, they’ve been obsessed with every single aspect of it. They even act out scenes from the film!
My son’s favorite request “Et it go mama, ut on et it go? Peese?”
Since Frozen is all we talk about and listen to these days, I thought it might be fun to share some names from the film. I’m partial to Anna and Elsa, but what about the others? Would you consider naming your baby after a character in “Frozen?”
Anna is Elsa’s sister and one of the main characters in the film. The name Anna means – gracious, full of grace.
Elsa is one of the main characters in “Frozen,” and the name is actually a short term for the name Elizabeth which means “God is my oath.”
Olaf is a Scandinavian name of a king and the patron saint of Norway.
Hans is a Scandinavian name that is a variant of John. It means “God is gracious.”
This is a name that has a bit of a tongue-in-cheek meaning if you know the character. Oaken means “consisting of or made of wood of the oak tree.”
Sven simply means “boy, lad.”
Kai could be either a boy’s or girl’s name. As a boy’s name it means “keeper of the earth.”
Gerda originated as a name variant of Gerd, the goddess of peace and fertility.
I couldn’t find a meaning for “Bulda” but in the film, it’s the name for one of the female trolls who is the adoptive mother of Kristoff.
Another name that I couldn’t find a meaning for. Pabbie is the wise, elderly troll that knows all things. He is the father of Bulda.
Kristoff is another traditional Scandinavian name and is a variant of Kristopher. The name Kristoff means “bearing of Christ.”
Cliff is a variant of Clifford and it’s meaning is what you would naturally guess. Cliff means slope, bank or river crossing.
Sitron is a variant of Citron which means “lemon.”
