Lately all my 21-month old, “Pink”, wants to do is color. Markers, crayons, colored pencils, Sharpies. She’ll put whatever she can get her hands on to good use. (Just ask our couch.) A couple weeks ago, I decided to spice things up and give her something other than a blank canvas to work into a masterpiece. Here are some of her finer pieces, and the reasons I loved them. (Plus links so you can download the templates too, of course.)
An Artist in the Making
Maybe it’s a girl thing (because my boys still have a questionable grip), but even the way she hold the crayon makes her seem like a natural.
Aurora in Autumn
Ok, it’s almost Spring, but my little girl already loves princesses, and this simple piece was one of her favorites.

Sweet Bambi
Even without knowing the story, Pink sensed that this one needed some dramatic flair. She kept shouting, “Bunny! Bunny!”

Minimalist Lion King
Not a personal favorite of hers, it seems, but her brothers laughed when they saw the print out and talked about the movie.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Brilliant
See how she practically brought the Fairy Godmother’s wand to life with that dramatic stroke? I think we have a happily ever after with this piece.

Tigger-ific
I think we can all tell who Pink’s favorite character is here. She even chose orange for her bouncy buddy.

A Magical Touch
There’s no doubt Pink showed real enthusiasm for her fairy friends. The color palette, the broad strokes, and the fact that she wears her fairy tutu everyday makes me think this may have been her favorite.

Doc McChatty
Eyes, nose, mouth, hair, baby doll … this particular piece was a real conversation starter for my little artist. Her awareness of Doc’s features was fascinating to me.

You've Gotta a Friend in This One
There are no shortage of Toy Story images around our house, so this one made for a lot of chatter too. The boys were jealous that I let Pink color this one.

Flying Fun
“Flying” is one of Pink’s favorite words, and activities. When she’s not coloring, she’s making her dolls fly. In the case of this printable, she could shout and make animal noises the whole time.

Pencil Perfect
Though she had no idea, this online printable is featured in colored pencil. Sure, she went with a good old-fashioned #2, but it’s like she knew the delicate lines called for precision. Or not.

Sofia Smiles
Pink loves Sofia and this printable was no exception. She pointed out her dress, necklace, and animals, smiling all along the way. (Which was about 4 minutes — a record.)
