I kind of have a thing for pom poms. They are inexpensive and can make almost anything cute. A couple of weeks ago, I made this pom pom heart wreath for our front door. That project inspired me to make some Valentine’s Day shirts for my girls. I wanted to make something simple and cute that they could wear for pictures. It was such an easy project, I had to share it with you!
DIY Pom Pom Heart Shirt
How cute is this Valentine’s Day shirt? Click through for step-by-step instructions!
Supplies Needed
All you need is a shirt or onesie, some small pom poms, matching thread or floss, a needle, a pair of scissors, a sheet of paper, and a pencil!
Step One
Cut out a paper heart and use a pencil to trace it onto your shirt.
Step Two
Using a needle and thread, stitch through the underneath side of the shirt. Stitch through a pom pom on the front of the shirt, and repeat. Make sure to go through the center of the pom pom so it’s attached well.
Step Three
Continue your stitches, adding pom poms one at a time.
Step Four
Make sure to check the front of the shirt to be sure you are following the outline of the heart. Make adjustments as needed.
Step Five
When you have completed your heart, tie a knot and snip your thread! Admire your beautiful work!
Aren't They Cute?
I added some polka dots in the middle of the hearts, too. If you’re not so sure about sewing, you could try to glue the pom poms on with fabric glue.
Ta-Da!
Now I just need to put these on my girls and get their photos taken!
