DIY: Homemade Mango Jam
When I was breastfeeding my son, he developed some really bad colic, which caused me to switch up my diet. I also had to give up certain fruits such as oranges, grapefruits, and pretty much anything that was too acidy. One of the fruits I was allowed to keep in my diet was mangoes. This was perfect on my end, because they’re my favorite fruit. We have tons of mango trees in Miami — I even have one in my backyard. When I went in search for mango jam, I realized there were so many ingredients added to it, from lemon juice to ascorbic acid. This led me to create my own. Basically the only two ingredients you’ll need is mangoes and sugar — that’s it! Since mango season is in full swing, I thought you might enjoy this quick and easy recipe for homemade mango jam.
Homemade Mango Jam
How to make your own homemade mango jam.
Start off with 2 ripe mangoes.
Peel the skin and chop the mango into small cubes. Be sure to discard the pulp.
You’ll also need a little less than 1/4 cups of sugar, depending on your preference.
Stir mango and sugar in a medium size saucepan for 25-40 minutes on low heat, until it develops a jam-like consistency. You can also use a fork to smash the pieces.
Once your jam is ready, simply pour it inside a glass jar and place it inside a bowl with cold water for about 10 minutes.
I also created these fun labels to give it a cute touch. And voila, you’ve made yourself homemade mango jam. Be sure to store inside a refrigerator.
