A DIY Quiet Toy

I’m always on the lookout for easy toys that my daughter can play with on her own (preferably quietly!).

This little container of pom poms has been a huge hit in our house and she loves to dump them all out (or have me hold them all) and then carefully put them back in one and at a time.

It costs almost nothing to make and takes about five minutes to assemble.

I know this looks pretty unexciting, but this has been one of my daughter’s consistently favorite toys in our on-the-go bag (for church or meetings or airplane rides). And it’s so easy and small.

First, Get Some Pom Poms

I like the multi-color/multi-size ones because it gives me the chance to work on colors and size ordering with Ella.

Then, Find a Small Container

Just a little inexpensive plastic one, or even a leftover yogurt or sour cream container works great.

Finally, Cut a Hole in the Lid

Using a craft blade or sharp knife, carefully cut a hole in the lid (you may want to use a bit of sandpaper to smooth out the edges afterward). Ta-da! Done.

Step Around in The Pom Poms

This is an important step that must not be missed (at least not if you’re my toddler).
