An Afternoon on the Patio

We’ve been spending more time at home lately, with the new little lady in our family who needs a lot of sleep. The weather has been lovely, so we feel fortunate to have a patio (even if it is only about five feet by eight feet).

Last week, while Ani took a marathon nap, Ella and I spent several hours on the patio, amusing ourselves with chalk and water (were there ever two more child-pleasing items?). And Ella was being so darling that I couldn’t help but pull out the camera and take some photos of her playing.

First, I'll water the plants

(Good thing all my plants are dead for the winter, because I think they would have drowned . . .)

What about putting my chalk in the leftover water?

Okay then, all the chalk is going in the water

(Surprisingly, this didn’t appear to hurt the chalk at all, even when it was left in the water overnight. Good to know).

Whoops, got my skirt a little bit soaked. Better take it off.

(Mom is not even a tiny bit surprised by this development).

Chalk AND water all over the patio? Time to stomp my feet in it for maximum filthiness

(The poor carpet in our apartment. . . ).

Repeat with water and chalk until the baby wakes up. Best afternoon ever.
