A Winnie the Pooh Ornament to Start a Beautiful Holiday Tradition

When I was a baby, my mom and my aunt began a holiday tradition that is now continuing into its second generation. It is a beautiful and simple tradition, but one that has decorated my own holiday tree, and thus my holidays, with special memories. Each year from my first Christmas onward, my mom and my aunt went to Hallmark and chose ornaments for each other’s children, and our two families would get together each year to unwrap them and find out what would be on our tree. My brother and I have an ornament from each year of our childhood, as do my cousins.

Taking the ornaments out of their storage boxes and hanging them on the tree each year is still one of my favorite holiday traditions, simply looking at each one as I place it on the tree, and remembering which year it was, and what I was doing then, and what I liked. There are quite a lot of Winnie the Pooh ornaments, as the Pooh stories have always had a special place in my heart. As I looked through the Hallmark ornament selection this year, I was delighted to see that there was a Baby’s First Christmas ornament featuring my favorite bear.

The ornament is so sweet, and it reminds me so much of many that are in my collection. If this were Elvie’s first Christmas instead of her second, I would have requested it for her. Though my cousins and I are all grown now, the tradition continues with ornaments still chosen at Hallmark by my mom and my aunt, given now to our children. I love watching my children open up their ornament boxes and seeing what they get. Maybe this year one of them will get Pooh.

If you are interested in starting your own ornament tradition, I highly recommend it. Whether you have another family to exchange ornaments with or if you are just doing it for your own children, it is truly a special time, and the ornaments will be used and loved for years to come. If it’s your baby’s first Christmas, why not start with Winnie the Pooh? You can purchase the Winnie the Pooh Baby’s First Christmas ornament online by clicking here, or find it in a Hallmark store near you.
