I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be joining the team here at Disney Baby. As we speak (type?), all three of my children are flinging themselves around our living room, singing their favorite songs from “Frozen,” and I just can’t help but think how fitting of a place to find myself at at this time when Disney has brought so much magic into our lives.
But I guess I’m getting a bit ahead of myself.
First off, an introduction: I’m Chaunie, a part-time labor and delivery nurse, full-time writer and mom to three littles with another on the way. I’m also a new author of the book, Tiny Blue Lines: Reclaiming Your Life, Preparing For Your Baby, and Moving Forward in Faith in an Unplanned Pregnancy, which is all about one of my biggest passions in life–encouraging young mommas to live their dreams, even with babies on their hips and unexpected “bumps” along the way.
And pursuing your dreams as a mother after unexpected pregnancy is something I know a lot about. After having my first daughter exactly one week after my college graduation, each baby that arrived on the scene seems to have solidified my official rank as a “young mom.” And although some may look down on me for having my children at a young age, I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. In no way have my children “held me back” or prevented me for being anything that I wanted to be; on the contrary they have helped me to live the life I always dreamed of living. Every day I get to be home with my children, make a living through the words that keep me fulfilled, and always, always dream big. Even if I don’t always get dressed–that’s something I am still working on, I will admit. (Holla if your husband asks you why you’re “all dressed up” when you actually put on a jeans in the morning!)
I have two daughters, who are 5 and 3, and my son is 18 months old. I’m due with this baby at the end of August, so please, send some positive pregnancy thoughts my way, would you? Although I’m slightly obsessed with pregnancy and babies for other women, I personally find pregnancy very challenging sometimes for me! It’s going to be a long summer…
Here’s a picture of me with my son, then a year old:
And as for me, every day I pinch myself when I think about how lucky I am to have the opportunity to do what I love for a living and to be home with my children while doing it. I dreamed about supporting my family as a writer for so many years, but with babies and dreams of a house and a husband in school, working the night shift as a labor and delivery nurse has paid the bills and allowed me to be a part of my other passion in life: pregnancy.
I absolutely adore all things pregnancy and motherhood related; I love learning new things, hearing other mothers’ stories, and sharing the little (and big) things that make up the magic of our days as parents. It’s such a unique and beautiful journey and I love that through sites like this, we can focus on the joys of the little people that make our days so special–even when we’re sleep deprived.
So what will you find from me on Disney Baby?
Well, first of all, there will be a lot of talk about baby #4! I need all the help I can get to make it through this pregnancy and even though I should have things motherhood thing down pat by now, there’s a lot I am looking forward to learning and sharing along the way. Every pregnancy and every baby is different, and that’s pretty much the only guarantee I’ve learned in six years of parenting!
I hope to share some of the information I’ve learned in my years as labor and delivery nurse; I love learning new things from the medical world and passing those useful bits on to readers–there’s always something new that can benefit us in our pregnancies.
I’m definitely not a mom who has it all together, that’s for sure, so if you’re looking for an inspirationally perfect mom, you may have to move along! I just do the best I can each day, which sometimes means crying right alongside my kids and sometimes means sneaking chocolate before dinner when they aren’t looking (it’s a lot harder than it sounds, actually). But I do think sharing our imperfections shows us just how perfect we can be for the little ones in our life, who love us no matter what.
And finally, I just hope to soak up the magic of Disney Baby with you all, learning, laughing, and loving being a mom to all my babies along the way. Thank you so much for following along and if you’d like to get to know more about me, feel free to stop in at my blog, Tiny Blue Lines, or visit me on Facebook!
