A DIY Gender Reveal Party!

With the announcement of our fourth pregnancy, I’ve had the slight feeling that the reaction surrounding this little one is a bit more subdued than say, our first daughter.

While obviously we all cherish the new life growing inside of me, there becomes a little bit of a “been there, done that” attitude after the second baby, doesn’t there? And not just for other people, but for us as well. We’ve got this new baby thing down to a routine at this point.

So I was definitely looking for a way to “spice” up the fun of our fourth baby–and with my husband’s birthday coming up, I thought why not make it a little more fun with a gender reveal cake? I did some research to find some adorable gender reveal cakes and set off to make our own easy DIY gender reveal party.

  • Gender Reveal Cake

What’s a gender reveal party without the cake, of course? Our aunt volunteered to make this adorable gender reveal cake, which was so special for us and a lot more affordable than one from a fancy bakery. Score!

  • Gender Reveal Cupcakes

She also whipped up these yummy chocolate cupcakes for the kids–complete with a hidden surprise inside to reveal the baby’s gender! (And how cute are these for Easter too?)

  • Gender Reveal Table

In the corner of our dining room, the girls and I had fun decorating a gender reveal party. We included fun photo booth props, a voting station, and themed blue and pink wine for some party favors!

  • Voting Jars

What do you think, girl or boy? Guests cast their vote for girl or boy before the reveal. For a fun twist, we had guests include a baby name suggestion and we drew winners for our favorites at the end of the party–with the winners taking home wine and chocolate!

  • Colored Hershey's Bars
