A Bizarre Little Part of Our Bedtime Routine
One thing I’m learning about toddlers is that they develop an interest in the strangest things.
A couple of weeks ago, my husband put our daughter to bed and when he came out of her room, he looked at me with a puzzled expression and said, “Do you show Ella your elbows before you leave?”
And I had to admit that, yes, somehow in the past month, Ella had started asking to see my elbows before I walked out of the room (I assume this began as a stalling technique), and now it happens at every single nap and bedtime.
Not only does she want to see them, she wants each of her “friends” (stuffed animals) to touch them and then she says, “They’re made of BONES!”
And then, at last, I can walk out the door.
While she calls from her crib, “I just need one more fing!”
Don’t you just love crazy little toddlers?
