The very first Wes Anderson movie I ever saw was “Rushmore” and I have been hooked on his films ever since. I know there are quite a few Wes Anderson fans out there and I’ve always thought that his memorable film characters would make great baby name inspiration, so I decided to compile a few of my favorites in a list. There are some great options that both Anderson fans and non-fans alike can appreciate.

If you are a lover of Wes Anderson films, then perhaps you might care to give him a nod with your baby naming choice? Check out these great baby names that Anderson fans and non-Anderson fans alike can be inspired by!
Max Fischer from “Rushmore” is probably one of my all-time favorite Anderson characters. His unending optimism blended with awkward brilliance is hard not to love. I love this short and sweet name for a little boy.
Francis Whitman was Owen Wilson’s character in the movie “The Darjeeling Limited” and I think it could make a great name for a boy or a girl!
Margot has long been on my favorites list, and although I’m not sure I could ever convince my husband to go for it, I think Margot Tenenbaum from “The Royal Tenenbaums” makes for a great name muse.
I’ll admit that this name is a bit out there, but I think that the name Zissou inspired by Team Zissou of “The Life Aquatic” would make for a fun and unexpectedly quirky middle name for die-hard Wes Anderson fans.
Suzy Bishop of “Moonrise Kingdom” may have a short name, but it certainly is sweet. I adore spunky little girl names and this one certainly is that.
Eli Cash of “The Royal Tenenbaums” was certainly a lovable character and would make a great inspiration for a baby boy name.
Herman is one of those names that definitely isn’t popular, but I kind of like the vintage feel of it. And for Bill Murray fans, Herman Blume was the character he played in the movie “Rushmore.”
Alistair Hennessey was one of Anderson’s characters in “The Life Aquatic” and I think the name is quite regal and an interesting pick for a little one.
Another regal pick, Royal Tenenbaum, the patriarch from “The Royal Tenenbaums,” might make a fun option for a little one. This could be a boy’s or a girl’s name, but I prefer it for a little boy.
I’ve already professed my love for last names as first names and the idea of using the last name of Francis Whitman from “The Darjeeling Limited” is no different. A cute unisex baby name option.
Another cute last name option inspired by Eli Cash of “The Royal Tenenbaums.”
The last name of Herman Blume from “Rushmore”, I think this could make an interesting take on the name “Bloom” which was actually on my favorites list for a little girl.
Eleanor was one of my top baby names when I was naming my daughter. I actually had planned to use it as her middle name for a little while. I might have been even more enticed had I remembered that it was shared with Eleanor Zissou of “The Life Aquatic”.
I adored Bill Murray’s character Raleigh St. Clair in “The Royal Tenenbaums” and I think this name is just the sweetest. Perfect for a little lady or a little man.
Did I mention I love last names as first names? Dirk Calloway was Max’s right hand man in the movie “Rushmore”.
You can’t go wrong with a short and snappy name for a boy and Jack is a classic shared with the character Jack Whitman in “The Darjeeling Limited”.
While Richie is short for Richard, I actually rather like Richie as a stand alone name. I think it’s fresh and fun. It was also the name of Luke Wilson’s character (Richie Tenenbaum) in “The Royal Tenenbaums”.
Renzo Pietro was the original score composer for Team Zissou in “The Life Aquatic” and while it is probably short for Lorenzo, I love this name on its own and had actually never heard it before!
While Ethel might seem a bit too “old lady”, Etheline has a pretty ring to it and is a name shared by Anjelica Houston’s character, Etheline Tenenbaum, in “The Royal Tenenbaums”.
The school boy crush of Max Fischer in the movie “Rushmore” was Rosemary Cross and it’s a name I’ve always fancied. Also a family name for me.
This name actually has Biblical ties, but it is also the name of Richie Tenenbaum’s falcon in “The Royal Tenenbaums”, which I think makes it a super fun name idea. What a fun story to say you share a name with a falcon!
A lovely classic name with a variety of nickname options, Margaret Yang was one of Max’s friends in the movie “Rushmore”.
I know that Jane might be seen as a bit of a boring name, but I think it’s lovely and classic and one I would definitely consider. Jane Winslett-Richardson was also the name of a character in “The Life Aquatic”.
Ash was the name of Mr. and Mrs. Fox’s son in “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” and I think it’s a cute name for a little boy with a fun point of inspiration.
Ari was the name of one of Chas Tenenbaum’s sons in “The Royal Tenenbaums” and is a name that could work for a boy or a girl.
