2012: The Year of the Pack n' Play

When I look back at 2012, which incidentally also was baby Paul’s first year of life, I’m reminiscing over all the essential products that made life with a newborn so much easier.

The baby carrier came in super handy, and the swing saved me from moments of despair when all I wanted to do was grab a 5 minute shower. And my breast-pump, well, parts of me will forever be giving that product a standing ovation.

But if there was one and only one item I absolutely couldn’t have made it without in 2012, it was (and still is to this very day), the lovely and talented Pack n’ Play. During our first days home with baby Paul, the Pack n’ Play was set up in my office as a make-shift diaper changing station and newborn nap spot. And to this day, it’s baby Paul’s primary napping spot.

You see, baby Paul and his 3 year old brother share a bedroom. And at night when it’s dark, they have no problem falling quickly asleep, both in the same room. But in the middle of the day when naptime is crucial to the rest of our day? Big brother Gage sleeps in the bedroom, and baby Paul sacks out in the Pack n’ Play, which is set up in the master bedroom.

And when we go on family road-trip adventures? The Pack n’ Play is sure to come along. Because where else would we sleep baby when not at home? Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without the Pack n’ Play.

Looking back at your baby’s first year, what is the one item that stands out as a clear lifesaver?
