Pinterest has done a lot for the mom community — stealing our nap time, for one thing — and this might be most evident in the types of parties we’re throwing for our kids.

Aside from recipes, wedding inspiration, and quotes, Pinterest is known for their party planning ideas. You may not set out to have a “trendy” 1st birthday party, but then you log on and GAH! This is such a cute idea! And this! And I could totally make this!

And before you know it, you’re knee-deep in party ideas, all in a succinct theme.

As you might expect, certain themes pop up more often than others — with more decorating, food, and DIY ideas than the norm:

This party from Sweet Cheek’s Tasty Treats was one of the original “vintage” party ideas — a sweet vintage schoolhouse theme, which I’ve seen for baby showers, 1st birthday parties, and even weddings. Yet it’s super trendy to make any birthday party “vintage” — whether it’s vintage circus, vintage cowgirl, vintage books, vintage trains….
