Babies look so small and weak most of the time.
They can’t even hold their heads up when they are born!
But after a few weeks and months of parenting, I’ve discovered that babies have some hidden superpowers.
Here are a few I’ve discovered (and I’d love to hear yours!):
#1: Making a trick millions of babies have done look brand new
I’ve seen hundreds, maybe thousands, of people eat watermelon, but when MY baby did it for the first time, it was like magic. (I won’t admit how many photos of this moment we took!)
#2: Knowing the exact moment you’re drifting off to sleep
Wail! And then silence again until you’ve juuuuust drifted off again.
#3: Identifying the sound of a wrapper from three rooms away
No matter how quiet I am, if I unwrap a piece of gum or open the fridge, my children come dashing in, hoping for a taste.
#4: Attracting people wherever you go
It’s like grocery shopping with a celebrity!
#5: Super Strong Knees
If I had to get around by crawling, my knees would be wrecked in about five minutes.
#6: Growing fingernails at the speed of light
My baby could use a fingernail clip every three days. How is that even possible?
#7: Knowing when you’ve hit your limit
Just when you think you can’t handle one more moment of parenting, they do something so cute and sweet, I just want to kiss their little faces off!
#8: Screaming at the most inopportune moment
Walk into a library or church, and suddenly your normally-quiet baby finds their voice!
#9: Making 15 pounds feel like 100
How do babies learn that trick where they turn their tiny bodies into giant, hard-to-hold sacks?
#10: Making you feel like a superhero
You might be making up parenting as you go, but they make you feel like the best parent in the world.
