I know some parents fear their child learning to walk, but with both of my girls, I’ve been SO happy when they make that big step (pun intended!).
After all, once they are crawling, they are into most things anyway, so walking doesn’t change that.
My almost-1-year-old is learning to walk, spending more and more time taking unassisted steps, and I’m SO happy about it! Here are 10 reasons I love it when a baby turns from a crawler into a walker:
#1: There isn’t much cuter than a baby learning to walk
How can anyone resist that stumbling toddle?
#2: Dresses don’t get in the way
My girls get so frustrated trying to crawl in a dress (although, I find that bear crawl they do to compensate ridiculously darling).
#4: Or their toes
It breaks my heart when my baby crawls around outside for a bit and then comes in with scuffed toes.
#5: She doesn’t put as much stuff in her mouth
When you’re crawling around on your hands and knees, everything looks appetizing (mmm, pinecones!). Walkers are a little more removed from those tempting non-edibles.
#6: I can put her down when we’re out in public
After a while, she gets antsy in the cart, but if she only knows how to crawl, letting her down isn’t really an option.
#7: She doesn’t wear out the knees of her clothing
Crawling is HARD on little leggings and pants (and if it doesn’t create holes, it sure gets them filthy!)
#8: Watching My Girls Hold Hands and Walking Melts My Heart
Gets me every time!
#9: It’s so cute when she holds MY hand when she walks
(Or in this case, my husband’s hands).
#10: She is so PROUD of herself!
I just love seeing that little grin on her face that says, “I am doing something pretty awesome here.” Yes you are, little one.
