10 Magical Moments with Baby Inspired by Walt Disney
Today is Walt Disney’s 112th birthday! I’ve always been inspired by such a visionary pioneer of art, animation and entrepreneurship. Walt Disney has hundreds of memorable quotes and wisdom attributed to him, each with such a passion for exploration, creativity and wonder. In honor of his birthday today, here are my favorite inspiring Walt Disney quotes I see reflected in the magical moments with my son, Judah.
"If you can dream it, you can do it."
At nearly 7 months old, the world is full of wonder, creativity and exploration for our son Judah. Whether it’s working on sitting up, grasping and reaching for toys, it’s our job as his Mom and Dad to encourage him to reach all of those dreams.
"I’m doing this because I want to do it better."
Tummy time was a challenge but now Judah is a tummy time champ. He rolls over back to front and back again, getting himself ready for the next big milestone: sitting independently!
"I don't know if it's art, but I know I like it."
As we explore more new foods with Judah, he eats it all up with gusto! Sure, we make a mess, but that’s okay – we know he’s being exposed to new flavors and tastes and loving them all!
"Children are people, and they should have to reach to learn..."
“Children are people, and they should have to reach to learn about things, to understand things, just as adults have to reach if they want to grow in mental stature.”
Judah reaches for everything now: his favorite toys, his spoon at mealtimes, and especially heartwarming – for me and his Daddy!
"The fun is in always building something."
“The fun is in always building something. After it’s built, you play with it awhile and then you’re through. You see, we never do the same thing twice around here.”
Just in the last week, Judah has begun to interact more with his toys in new ways, like these stacking rings!
"I can never stand still..."
“I can never stand still. I must explore and experiment.”
Thank goodness for burst mode on my iPhone! Without it, 99% of my pictures of Judah would be nothing but a blur. This baby is always moving!
"Whenever I go on a ride..."
“Whenever I go on a ride, I’m always thinking of what’s wrong with the thing and how it can be improved.”
Now that it’s gotten cold out here in New England, we’re not taking as many stroller rides as we did this summer, as in this photo. Now that he’s babbling, he’s got plenty of commentary anytime he’s riding in the car with us!
"Everyone falls down. Getting back up is how you learn how to walk."
I swear, I turn around for two seconds and Judah has managed to roll over onto his tummy or back, a good three feet from where he started! Learning how to sit up has been a bumpy process, but he’s getting there!
"For every laugh, there should be a tear."
Judah has been giggling up a storm. It’s like we brought home a brand new baby after our Thanksgiving travels; but with all his boisterous sense of adventure are the tearful, frustrated moments as he learns to do more for himself.
"I believe in being a motivator."
Judah is my napping protege… or perhaps vice versa?
